Visiting covered bridges
General courtesy and safety points. These are not rules for any particular bridge; check town and state notices for the bridge you plan to visit.
- Many covered bridges carry live traffic on narrow single lanes. Don't stand or stop in the roadway to take photos.
- Our directions go to each bridge's mapped point, not to a parking area. Park only where it is legal and safe, and never block driveways or farm gates.
- Respect posted weight, height and speed limits. Some bridges are restricted to pedestrians; where a state record says so, we show it on the bridge page.
- Some bridges are on private land. Look for signs and don't trespass.
- Bridges close for repairs, floods and fires. If a bridge page looks out of date, let us know.
